When Shada awoke, the strange man from before was sitting in a chair next to the bed she lay upon. She jumped a bit and sat up.
"What happened?" She asked, looking at him for a moment.
"You lost a lot of blood in the fight and with your transformation, but we did as much as we could without giving you a complete blood transfusion." She had no idea why he was frowning at her so she ignored it.
"Did I? I don't..." She realized she was rambling and stopped. "Where is Miranda?"
"Your friend? She and Lief left a bit ago, but she said she would be back." Up close his face wasn't so handsome. Then again, she had been woozy with blood loss. His nose was a bit too big for his face, his lips too thin and his eyes were big and expressive which made him look a bit... strange.. and she must have still felt sick, if she was thinking this way. She never disliked someone because of how they looked, never. She broke her gaze by closing her eyes and leaning back against the pillows. She couldn't believe Miranda had ditched her to hang with Lief; he was a guy and Rani was gay. Something was wrong with that, really wrong.
"Just sleep. You need your rest, Princess." His voice was gentle, ad it lulled her into a deep restorative sleep.
It was a few days later when Shada woke up again. This time it was Miranda sitting in the chair beside the bed, watching over her. It looked like she hadn't slept. Dark circles had formed under her eyes and her skin looked pale, like death.
"Shada, you're awake!" An instant smile found i's way onto her face.
"Aye.. I guess." She rasped. Her lips and throat were dry as a bone. Rani offered her a glass of water, which she took and drank greedily. She didn't like the look Rani was giving her as she watched her drink.
"How are you feeling?"
"Well, I'm... I'm not even hurting anymore." She said, amazed.
"Lief healed you." Rani sounded....fond of he gorgeous man.
"Oh, did he?" Now, she knew for a fact that Azazel had done it, since he had told her as much the last time she was awake, so that was complete and utter bullshit. Her tone was scathing nonetheless.
"What's wrong, Shada?"
"You ditched me to hang with Lief, who is a GUY, while I lay injured! How am I supposed to feel?" She snapped.
"Shada...."
"No! I don't want to hear your excuse!" Rani looked like she was going to cry. "How could you do that?"
"I didn't mean to! Azazel said you were okay, but I was worried and then Lief found me and..." A tear slipped down her cheek. It was bloody. "I'm, he... I'm a Roya Doublienn!" She exclaimed. "Lief and the Harpies are Vampiir, all of the rumors are true!" Shada stared at her, dumbfounded.
"You're a.."
"Yes!"
Shada's feelings didn't matter anymore, all that did was the fact that Rani was dead now... sort of. Royas were beautiful Vampiirs, though that was usually just a glamour to lure victims... which would explain her ragged appearance at that moment... and not much else. There was something going on here.. she just knew it.
"Rani, why? Why did you...?"
"I didn't have a choice. Lief is...very, very persuasive. And sexy. For a guy." Her face was pink; Shada just stared at her. "If ever there was a man to make me straight, it would be Lief, though Azazel isn't bad either." At that, Shada did nothing but shake her head. Oddly, any thought that he was gorgeous in the beginning had soured, and she wondered if...."It was me, yes. Just trust me. I don't think you want to get involved with that guy. His aura is dirty to me..." Was all Liir said. Confused, she sighed.
"Rani..."
"Hmm?"
"Could you... you know, Turn me?" Rani searched her eyes for a moment, sadness in her eyes.
"I can't. Lief is a Master, and I'm not. If I Turned you, you would become a mindless monster. I will go to..."
"No! No. It's fine. If you can't do it, I don't want it. Besides, Lief doesn't like me."
"That's silly! Of course he does!"
"Oh really? The only reason I'm still here is because I won his challenge. If you had won, I would have been long gone by now." Miranda was silent. Even she couldn't deny the truth, even if it made her precious Lief look like an asshole. She stood up and turned to go.
"I'll bring you up some food later, if you're up to it." She seemed to look down upon her friend, which pissed Shada off.
"Fine, whatever."
"What happened?" She asked, looking at him for a moment.
