The woman's directions took them far into another country, in fact it was the very city she and Rayflo had camped that fateful night all those centuries ago. Walking through the streets made her a little bit melancholic. But, she bit her tongue and said nothing as they passed through the back streets toward the citadel. The amulet was said to be guarded within, since the people of the town believed it was a talisman forged of the Gods. It was going to be difficult to get in and out without a fight.
She and Alistor had gotten past their fridged stage and were actually getting along. She believed it had something to do with the book, or the fact that she knew his father, but she wasn't going to say anything about it. She was just glad that she didn't have to be irritated all the time.
"How do you suppose we will get in?" Eliza asked of them.
"Our best bet is to just fight them. I mean, there only seems to be a few of them, far less than our numbers. Besides, how are we going to get the thing otherwise? Ask them for it?" Shada said, crossing her arms over her ample chest.
"I agree. Either way we would have to fight, so why don't we just skip the bullshit and do it that way?" She was surprised he would agree, but at the same time, there was no other choice. Sure, they were all tired, but there was no way that they were going to just walk away without some sort of consequence, that was just madness. With their plan made, the group headed for the citadel, using the main route, taking the guards head on.
Shada's sword connected with the neck of the nearest soldier with a vicious sounding clank. She was back in her element now, fighting, no killing was something she was good at, what she loved, despite the Baninae's lifestyle. She gave a wicked laugh and launched full force into her next opponent, who was foolish enough to come at her when she wasn't looking at him. She kicked him in the chest, which sent him flying back into the rush of his brethren, who came running out to attack the people who had come to steal their prized possession.
She looked around as she killed the next guy, watching her companions as they fought. Eliza held her own, despite looking so dainty, and Alistor... well, she could see that Rayflo had taught his Fledgling something before he died, poor bastard. Her green eyes flashed as she turned to take down some more of the men, forcing her way inside the citadel.
The trail of bodies behind her were the only thing that would alert someone that there was someone inside. The six foot, five inch wolf woman was on a mission, searching, sniffing out the magick that was the amulet.
"Hey! You aren't supposed to be here!" A deep, masculine voice called out. She turned to look at them, her green eyes black now. It gave her a sinister appearance. "W- what are you?"
"Your worst nightmare." She answered as she ripped his armor open and tore out his heart. He squalled and went down. She laughed wickedly and threw the offending organ over her shoulder. She was getting close... she had to be if she was come up on this many guards. She'd killed five thus far, since entering the room.
"Ah.... there you are, my pretty." She laughed again and approached the casing.
"I wouldn't if I were you." A woman's voice called out to her.
"Oh? Who says?"
"I do. There is a trap to stop such marauders as you."
"Really? Somehow I doubt it." Shada said, smirking. She smashed the glass that held the amulet underneath it and instantly, like a viper's bite a robotic arm came down and stabbed her hand, injecting her with some sort of chemical. She growled at the woman.
"I told you." The woman smirked at her, her brown eyes glinting wickedly.
"Heh. You can't stop me." She pulled a book from under her cloak and opened it to seemingly a random page. Then she began to recite an incantation. Shada did nothing but laugh. "I told you, you can't stop me."
"I... I don't understand, that spell is supposed to work on the Lyk--"
"Say it and you die. I am NOT Lykae, I just look like one, and there is a name for what I am called.
"..Xurenae..." She said it like it had just dawned on her.
"Very good." Shada stepped toward her, amulet in hand. "But, kinda doesn't matter. This is the end for you."
"NO! Have mercy on me!"
"Meh, I have no use for mercy. I have no use for much of anything anymore." She scoffed, still walking toward the woman. She backed away until she hit the walk, by which time was too late for her to move, Shada was upon her. "However, your Kind will sing of this night, the Night that the Wolf Xurenae took their High Priestess and the Amulet that did not belong to them." She gave a laugh. "Now hold still, this is only going to hurt a lot." Shada felt her fangs lengthen in her mouth and grinned. She opened her mouth and clamped down on the side of the woman's throat, biting, drinking, feeding. Oh, it had been far too long since she had had such blood... sure the people in the Commons room had been okay, for the time, but most of them were inebriated most of the time, so their blood wasn't as rich as one that never placed a bottle to their lips.
She threw her head back when she was finished with a sigh of fulfillment and let the dead body slide down the wall. She grinned, seeing that her jaws left big, jagged bites now. Rather difficult to hide, but still fun to look at. Renewed, she started for the door, using her magick to blow away anyone who dared to challenge her.
Outside, Eliza was wounded and being treated by one of the men.
"I believe this belongs to you, Eliza." She said, handing the amulet to her friend.
"You found it! I feared that you had died in the fray." Eliza looked over the amulet happily.
"Me? Nah, I've been around far too long to allow that to happen." Shada said, wiping a spot of blood from her mouth. "But, since you have found your talisman, I shall take my leave. I wish you the best on your journey home." She gave the woman a slight bow. "Please, be safe."
"I shall, Lady Nightshade. I wish the same to you." Eliza stood and embraced her wolfen friend. "Good bye."
"Good bye and good luck." She smiled and walked away, waving to Alistor, who was on his way over to speak to Eliza. "Good bye, Alistor." She called.
"Hey! Where are you going?"
"Home." Which was a lie, but hey, why not? He nodded and she walked on, her tail hovering just above the ground. She had a lot of walking to do.
