Her waiting was long and hard, since she had wanted to get out so badly. But she stuck it out, monitoring the others as she did everyday, seeing if she could help them. But on that day, she had heard of the death of one, another Vampire. Not even his Immortality could help him with whatever they had done to him. The doctors had made them watch from the windows as they buried him behind the building, in the ever-growing cemetery of unmarked graves. Her rage had come forth, but she had held on to her patience by the thin strand of self control holding it in check.
She had clenched her fist so tight her claws had cut her palms, dripping blood onto the floor. The one other Vampire in the place, a female Nosferatu jumped at her hands, lapping at the blood like a dog. She didn't move, she just let the woman do it, staring blankly out at the sad sight she was seeing. This was the last straw, she was going to leave tonight, and free every single person from the place!
She yanked her hand from the woman, who was beginning to stick her tongue in the rapidly closing wound, keeping it from doing just that, trying to feed. "Stop." She snapped. The woman gave an anguished cry, and scrambled away from her, her dirty black hair hanging limply around her face. Shada gave her a calculating look and sighed, going to the woman and kneeling beside her. "Tonight.. you will be free again. You will be able to feed freely. Don't despair. Your suffering will not be in vain." The woman stared at her, dirty red eyes gleaming.
"Tonight..." She began muttering to herself about something, twisting her hands and rocking back and forth. Having said her peace, Shada rose, her long red hair settling along her back. First thing she was going to do was fix her appearance. She looked like a homeless woman, and she didn't like it. At the moment, she was homeless, but that was besides the point. She had to get back to Blade and tell Azazel what had happened to their daughter, though she was beginning to think that was a bad idea. She looked down at her arms, at the scars, and old burns from all of their testing. Three of her fingers were stunted, having been stopped from regeneration by another one of their tests. She was in terrible shape. And as she walked back toward her room, the orderlies at her sides, she knew she had to get out. Her father had ignored her countless pleas for him to release her from this, so she knew she had to take it upon herself to do it, and she wasn't sure if she would be able to use it... and if she couldn't they would all suffer.
The girl in the next room was screaming again, and Shada could only imagine what they were doing to her. Luckily, the two of them had created a crawlspace between their rooms, just so they would have a bit of sanity left to them. Her name was Kiara and she was a changeling of some sort. She had been placed there by her family and forgotten, something that made Shada sick to her stomach to think about. How could someone do that to family?
She waited a little while before going to the corner and shifting the bricks in the wall that led into Kiara's room.
"Are you all right?"
"No. Another round of injections. These were the worst so far." Kiara grimaced, lifting her head.
"Aye, I don't like them either. But then you know how I feel about it.." The girl nodded. "I was thinking... what would you say if I told you I might have a way to get out of this place?"
"Do you?"
"Very possible." Shada replied. "I don't know if it's going to work, but if it does, we will all be free."
"If it works.. I want to go too. I'm tired of being a pincushion."
"All right, I will try it." Shada crossed the room, giving the camera the finger as she did so. Somewhere off in the distance, the alarm sounded, and she knew she had to be quick.
She sliced through the thick leather with her remaining claws and pulled the girl from the bed. She grabbed the blanket that was on a heap at the foot of the bed and wrapped it, along with her arms around the girl and knelt on the floor with her.
"Cover you ears, you don't want to hear this." Shada told her. Kiara looked at her with a strange look on her face but did as she was told. She took a long breath, and released it slowly, then took another, letting the energy build inside her. Her eyes were sightless and glowing violet but she clearly heard the sound of the door being slammed open. One last... she tilted her head back and shrieked; the infamous Baninae Shriek ripping from her vocal cords. The men who had come to get her instantly exploded, raining bit of gore on her, but she kept it up. The ceiling and the walls were rocking beneath the force of her voice, crumbling with the sheer ferociosity. The debris rained down on them, but Shada shielded the girl with her body, grunting a little when some hit her particularly hard.
The alarms were silenced by the crumbling of the building, and when it was all done, rubble was everywhere. Some of the people who were in the surrounding rooms had died, but for the most part, everyone was alive. The dust settled and she let go of the girl.
"Are you all right?"
"I'm fine, but what was that. All I could hear was screaming..." Kiara studied her. "If you could do that before, why didn't you do it then?"
"I was weakened severely, and I still am. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it this time." Shada grimaced, hearing the scratchy sound in her voice from the extersion. "And I'm afraid I won't be able to do it again for a while. Not until I get a decent meal."
A chorus of 'we're free!'s erupted all over the place. The survivors were coming to their senses.. what little some of them had after being in a place like that. Shada smiled and rose from the dirt, the sun beating down on her.
"Aye. We're free. You are free to return to whatever lives you had before this place. You are free to live without fear of tests, or the effects of them. No one will harm you again." She called out to them. She turned to Kiara. "And I must go home." She said.
"To Azazel?"
"Aye. I have to tell him what became of our daughter, he has the right to know."
"I wish you the best of luck, Shada."
"To you as well, my dear." Shada replied, heading off. She had no idea where she was going, but it didn't matter, she needed a decent meal and a change of clothes before she went anywhere.
